Our second annual Carnation Ball went off without a hitch this year on April 21st. All the brothers were looking fly and their dates looked GORGEOUS! This year it was held at Kairo Kafe on the banks of the ol’ Raritan (New Brunswick). The food was good, the music was even better, and the speeches played to the sentimental. There were Alumni from the 50’s, belly dancers, and big-little letters and paddle presentations. We had it all. All in all it was a great time for a great group of friends and brothers. Maybe next year we can get Green Day to play at the Ball. (hint hint newly graduated alumni) haha a man can only dream.
Here are some pics from the night

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Last Saturday we held our first Seasaw for life philanthropy event. We raised over $150 in donations, all going towards the Kaleidoscope of Hope foundation. We had a blast doing it and we’re definitely going to do it again next year. Did anyone say 24 hour seasaw?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped contribute to the cause and made this day an amazing day AND a special thanks to all the brothers who came out, to Avi who headed the design and building of the seasaw, John Golden our ACB President, to Andreas Klaube for putting this whole thing together and of course to his Mom Denise Klaube. Thank you all!
Here are some pictures of the day

Congratulations to the new Epsilon Class of Delta Sigma Phi, who just finished their final test last night! By this week’s end, you shall become official brothers of the Gamma Zeta colony at Rutgers!
Orite, couple of announcements…
April 25th is RUTGERS DAY, and from 10am to 4pm we will be holding our first Seesaw for Life with Kaleidoscope of Hope, a great organization devoted to ovarian cancer research and awareness. Come join us in front of Bishop House on College Ave and sign the seesaw and *coughdonateyourmoniescough*. The weather promises to be good that day.
Check us out on Facebook (search for “DSP See-Saw for Life”)
uhm, what else…
April 26th is the March of Dimes, a 5k (I think) walk/run around Johnson Park and Livingston Campus for the prevention of birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality. What’s sad is that this will be one of the few times some of us actually get off our lazy bums and exercise. Myself included. Or maybe myself exclusively.
Hm, I think I hear food and laziness calling my name.

Play pool for free at Elite Billiards this thursday, provided by the brothers of Delta Sigma Phi. We’re meeting at 9PM at Busch Campus Center for rides and carpooling, or you can meet us there at 9:30. It’s close by, and it will be tons of fun!
Food and drinks are available for everyone!
You can learn about the fraternity, or just sharpen your pool game if you want and hang out with some new people.
See you on Thursday!!

For those of you who are considering joining DSP here at Rutgers, you must fill out a short application that checks your past academic performance.
Just go to this link:
http://greekrecruitment.rutgers.edu/
Click under “Men - I am interested in joining or learning more about fraternity life.” and Continue.
On the next page, click the “Interfraternity Council” link and a list of all the fraternities under the IFC will appear. Check the box next to Delta Sigma Phi.
Fill out the brief bit of personal information, initial in the box that allows Rutgers to run a check on your grades and send them to us. (Only our President himself can see these grades, nobody else can!) Check the final box that says you agree to the terms and conditions, etc. and click Submit.
And boom, you’re done!
NOTE: Clicking Submit does NOT mean you’ve locked yourself in to joining DSP or any Greek organization at all. It simply allows us to check to see if your grades make you eligible to be considered for membership. It’s a minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA with a minimum 2.0 GPA from the previous semester. You also have to be a full-time student at Rutgers.

I just woke up after a friggin hazardous, snowy, slippery 4 hour drive from Auburn, NY on a puny FWD 1.4L engine. And that came about 2 weeks after a 7 hour drive up to and back from Vermont. I’m officially retiring from driving long distances for a while. Either that or you guys can all pitch in and get me a Nissan GTR. I will be very happy if that were to happen.
So the retreat was pretty awesome. I can’t remember when was the last time I saw that much snow in my life. Probably back when I was like…12. Stupid NJ never has enough snow now. Although I can’t say I enjoyed pushing cars up a hill.
Hokay, so new rush schedule. Shiny postcard thingys mayhaps this semester? At least there’s a copy up here.

I have never been so paranoid about how to spell the word “February” before. I never pronounce the first “r” so I never really spelled it that way… O_O;; I’ve been spoiled by MS Word’s automatic stupid spelling mistake changer thing all my life. Why can’t Photoshop have a spellcheck…
Ugh this is the first serious thing I’ve photoshopped in a long while, I’m so rusty now. Well. Not that I was that great to begin with, but oh well. Shiny things = win.
IF YOU FIND ANY SPELLING MISTAKES LET ME KNOW SO I CAN KICK MYSELF.

Congratulations Delta Class! It’s been a great semester with lots of ups and downs, but you made it through the pledge process, and pushed yourself further than ever before to become brothers.
You guys earned it well, and I’m proud to call all of you my brothers. I hope to see you help make this chapter better, because we’re always looking to improve ourselves. After all, our motto is Better Men, Better Lives.
